Consultations

We begin with a personalized consultation to understand your specific needs. We call this a Hearing Protection Needs Assessment. Part of this evaluation may include a loud sound exposure risk assessment, during which we’ll ask you about your current exposures and symptoms (i.e. muffled hearing, ringing in the ears, etc.). Once we’ve identified your potential exposure risks and protection needs, we’ll be able to recommend the best solution for you whether it’s earmolds for hearing protection, swimming, sleeping, or communication. We will evaluate your ear anatomy and any potential contraindications or challenges to determine if custom is right for you and the best type of custom earmold for you.

Earmold Impressions

Achieving a perfect fit starts with precise ear impressions. During this process, the audiologist will place an otoblock (foam or cotton block) inside the ear canal(s) to protect your eardrum(s), slowly and gently fill your ears with a specialized impression material and let it set and harden for about five minutes before removing it. The result is an impression that captures the unique contours of your ear(s), which can be used to manufacture a custom-fitted earmold for any use, ensuring a secure, comfortable fit and optimal performance of the earmold. Deep earmold impressions are often required for advanced applications, such as musician monitors or high-noise protection to achieve maximum customization, protection, comfort and functionality.

Digital Earmold Impression Storage

We have a very fancy (and expensive 😉 ) piece of equipment which allows us to convert your physical earmold impressions into digital format for easy and indefinite storage. These digital files are securely stored, allowing for easy access and reproduction of custom earmolds without requiring a new impression. This method is highly convenient for clients needing replacement or additional earmolds in the future, ensuring consistent fit and reducing turnaround time. It also eliminates the risk of physical impression degradation. Digital earmold impressions can be used for 5+ years granted you have not lost or gained a significant amount of weight since your initial earmold impressions.

Your perfect fit, saved and ready whenever you need it!

Note: Custom earmolds are non-refundable in most cases; however, if there is a fit issue, contact us as soon as possible, and we will address it to the best of our ability within the 60-90 day fit warranty period.

Fittings

Once your custom earmolds are ready, we ensure they fit perfectly. During the fitting appointment, we make any necessary adjustments to optimize comfort and effectiveness. We demonstrate how to insert, remove and care for your earmolds properly. You’ll have 60-90 days to assess the fit and function of the earmolds. If there is a fit issue, we’ll fix it for you within this time period.

Fit Testing

To confirm your earmolds provide the intended protection or functionality, we can conduct fit testing. This involves checking the seal and performance of the earmolds to ensure they meet your needs. We can also evaluate the effectiveness of your custom-fitted hearing protection with in-booth testing.

From start to finish, our process ensures your earmolds are expertly designed and fitted to provide the ultimate in comfort, protection, and performance.

From impression to perfection - custom earmolds made to fit, function and feel just right!
